HMD 120/40 is an innovative, lightweight stereo SXGA head mounted display with a large field of view. Specifically designed for simulation and visualization purposes, its mass is less than a kilogram when fitted with head tracking and allows the user to interact with a virtual environment in a way that has not previously been possible. Innovative Technology HMD 120/40 incorporates a patented new catadioptric eyepiece developed by SEOS, which is not conventionally refractive. The result is a large pupil, providing high tolerance to eyeball movement without losing regions of the field of view. It also incorporates a wide range of optical correction (+/- 4 diopter), so that spectacle wearers can be accommodated (removing the spectacles). The image distance can be varied from collimated to 0.25M by the use of the eyepiece focus adjustment. Field of View The
field of view is
an impressive 120°H
x 67°V with 40° full-stereo
overlap (50% of
each eye) to give
a full
wrap around two-channel
SXGA (1280 x 1024)
image. Due to its a mass of less than a kilogram when fitted with head tracking, the HMD 120/40 exhibits no net lean either forward or backwards, so the need to secure as tightly to the head is reduced. The resultant slippage is low and comfort high. This ensures a more positive location and greater comfort. |
