Input Resolutions and Display Modes

The xSight and piSight HMDs and the HDSight OEM module support a variety of input resolutions, including:

  • 1920x1200
  • 1600x1200
  • 1680x1050
  • 1280x1024
  • 1024x768

All signals should be a DVI input at 60 Hz.

The xSight and piSight HMDs support a wide variety of display modes including:

One input per eye

Use this mode when two separate signals, one for each eye, are available. This mode provides the best resolution and depth perception. This mode is recommended when you are able to provide separate left eye/right eye signals that take into account the specific field of view and viewing direction settings for each eye.

Sensics One input per eye
"Movie mode"

Use this mode when only one signal is available for both eyes (such as a signal coming from an application that is not 3D-enabled or a DVD player). This mode stretches the signal across both eyes to achieve a very compelling effect without needing 3D content. This mode provides maximum compatibility with most applications and multimedia content.

Vertical split

In this mode, a single video signal carries left eye and right eye information. The left side of the input picture carries the information for the left eye and the right side of the input picture carries the information for the right eye. Use this mode when only one video signal is available (such as driving the product from a notebook PC), but when 3D depth perception is desired.

Horizontal split

Similar to the vertical split mode, a single video signal carries left eye and right eye information. The top half of the input picture carries the information for the left eye and the bottom half of the input picture carries the information for the right eye. Use this mode when only one video signal is available (such as when driving the product from a notebook PC), but when 3D depth perception is desired. If the field of view of the HMD is wide much more than tall, horizontal split may be advanageous over vertical split.
